Tuscany Vacation
Villa Mangiacane

Villa Mangiacane unites the charm of Toscana and the beauty of Renaissance art with all the comforts of a modern resort. This fairy-tale estate, which covers 300 hectares of vineyards, olive groves, and forests, is also one of Chianti Classico’s most respected wineries. Located 12 kilometers from Florence (just 20 minutes by car), the villa affords lovely views of the countryside, with the dome of the cathedral and Giotto’s bell tower visible in the distance.

The Villa:
Home to the Machiavelli family for over two centuries, the fully restored 15th-century villa still boasts its original frescoes as well as later antique pieces and other elegant artworks. Seven single bedroom suites and one two-bedroom are housed in the main villa, and almost 20 more will open in the neighboring building as renovations are completed in the summers of 2005 and 2006. All suites have air conditioned bedrooms, living areas, private baths, and personal computers and open onto a frescoed terrace with a magnificent view of the grounds. Also in the main building are several grand salons and dining rooms, a library, a gym and pool area, and traditional wine cellars. High-speed internet is provided around the villa.

The Experience:
Your stay at Mangiacane revolves around your own personal interests and needs. Your hosts will be happy to schedule transportation to and from the airport as well as organizing wine tours, Tuscan cooking lessons, and much more. Villa Mangiacane is also the ideal setting for private events: guests may arrange their own gatherings for friends at the estate. Dinners ranging from traditional Tuscan cuisine to avant-garde fusion menus are prepared by an executive chef, and a sommelier can discuss Mangiacane’s Chianti Classico with your group as you enjoy these world class wines. The unforgettable stay at Villa Mangiacane was named “Retreat of the Month” by Food & Wine Magazine in May 2004 and has been written up by numerous other prestigious food and travel publications.
