The
Evolution of Wine Tastings
IWM
is proud to introduce the new Vintage
Tasting Room and Lecture
Series, as well as the
allocation of several rare vintage gems
from Sergio's cellar, from the elegant
1964 Bartolo
Mascarello Barolo to the ambrosial
1990 Dal
Forno Recioto.
The Vintage Tasting Room
and customizable Lecture Series represent
another pioneering
effort to bring sophisticated Italian wines
and education to the dedicated collector
and aspiring enthusiast. Unlike many typical
wine seminars around the country, which treat
everyone on one level or are tied to one
subject for all, IWM's private tastings focus
on personalization and individual service.
The fact is not everyone has the same experience,
and people's palates and interests vary.
IWM is therefore providing customized programs
as well as a distinguished list of suggested
lecture themes. The lectures and tastings
take place in our newly constructed Vintage
Room, which provides an intimate setting
with its old wines dating back to 1959. Our
sommeliers will complement the mood as they
provide an in-depth understanding of the
wines you and your group taste.

Vintage Tasting
Room
More than five years ago, IWM's landmark
efforts to bring quality Italian wine and
wine education to NYC resulted in the creation
of our very own Studio
del Gusto, a state
of the art tasting facility designed specifically
as a learning laboratory for those seeking
to enrich their knowledge of fine Italian
wine and culture. The room has now become
a staple for IWM clientele for both corporate
events and large, private tastings for 15
- 70 people. However, IWM recognizes the
need for more intimate and informative tastings
that cater to groups of 4 - 6 wine enthusiasts
or collectors. As a result, the newly constructed
IWM
Vintage Tasting Room is on premise and
is designed to provide the following:
- Designed for intimate events (4 - 6 people)
- Private tasting room (unique setting & atmosphere)
- Lectures by IWM sommeliers and Portfolio
Managers
- Customized program(s)arranged for you,
or
- Pick from selected tasting themes (see
below)
- Rare Vintage Wine tastings are also available
- Antipasti prepared by Chef Anne Burrell
of IWM
The newly constructed Vintage
Tasting Room evinces an enchanting European
cellar with
its open brick bins laden with benchmark
vintage bottles from Italy’s obscure
wine artisans. The atmosphere of the room
is complemented by IWM's own Studio del Gusto,
which is fashioned in the tradition of a
true Italian enoteca and features both a
demonstration kitchen and a working salumeria
managed by respected chef and restaurateur
Mario
Batali. To learn more about our Vintage
Tasting Room, please call Brandon
Gillespie at

Barbaresco)
Highlights include:
Special Guests: Bruno and Bruna Giacosa
7-Course Meal prepared by Mario Batali
Description:
Meet Langhe legend Bruno
Giacosa, one of
the elder statesmen of the Barolo region,

to the States and joins us for a vertical
tasting of his great Barolos and Barbarescos.
Featured bottles will include the 1990
Barolo Falleto Riserva Barolo, as well
as the 1990 Santo Stefano Riserva Barbaresco
among others.
Accompanied by his daughter,
Bruna, and toting a suitcase full of choice
vintages
from the Giacosa cellars, he’ll be
welcomed in grand Piedmontese fashion by
the Babbo crew. Never before have we had
a guest winemaker at the Vintage Babbo events,
and what better way to start than by hosting
one of the greatest Italian vintners who
ever lived? Expect a menu fit for a Barolo
king (including some truffles!) at this unprecedented
tasting.
