Selected Wines

Feudi di San Gregorio 2003 Pietra Calda
The Fiano grape has grown in Campania since the time of Greek occupation and, after near extinction, is now rapidly regaining popularity. This wine is thoroughly enjoyable with a characteristically complex blend of flavors that include hazelnut and pear laced with mineral and earthy accents.

Laila 2002 Verdicchio Lailum
Late harvested, hand-picked and barrel fermented: great care and contemplation are lavished on the grapes that make this fascinating take on Verdicchio. Heady with perfumes of tropical fruit and honeysuckle, voluptuous with an exuberant fruitiness and a round, mouth-filling texture. A fine, persistent finish.

Scarbolo 2001 Pinot Grigio
Bright straw yellow with a green tinge releases tart green apples, pears, and fresh greenery. Impressively complex on the palate, which shows more fruit with fresh acidity leading to hints of toasty nuts on the finish.

Fondo Antico 2002 Il Coro
Grillo was at one time the preferred varietal in the blend for the fortified wine Marsala along with Catarratto. Today producers like Fondo Antico are taking advantage of the grape's high sugar content to produce full-bodied wines with evident notes of nuts and honeyed fruit.

DeLucia 2003 Falanghina
Medium gold in the glass, the nose is brillantly vibrant with notes of pear, lemon, and honey. On the palate, the flavors continue to evolve and are complimented by a touch of nuttiness on the finish. Refreshingly clean, this is a healthy medium-full bodied white wine.

Alois 2004 Caiati
An elegant wine showing golden yellow with green highlights. Delicate nose and a dry, fresh palate that is pleasantly playful.

Bastianich 2002 Vespa Bianco
This is the flagship white of the estate – a blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and a touch of Picolit – vinified half in stainless steel and half in barrique. Winner of Three Glasses from Gambero Rosso two years in a row, this wine is an exercise in balance and power.

Villa Sparina 2004 Montej Bianco
Fresh herbs, apple and chalk on the nose. Dense in atypical thickness and glycerine. Pear, citrus and flint fill-out the palate. Lean, distinguished and pleasingly reticent in fruit character.

Sartarelli 2003 Verdicchio 'Tralivio'
On the nose, this golden-yellow, hay-colored wine offers intense but elegant and clean notes of honey, hawthorn, and apricot followed by more delicate but equally seductive aromas of pineapple, chamomile, quince, and hazelnut. Soft, round, and fresh in the mouth, it is well balanced, with good body and a long finish of chamomile, pear, honey, and almond.

Vesevo 2004 Fiano di Avellino
The wine is at its best fresh and in the summer. A light, golden green color. Aromas showing tangerine, pine, and a soft minerality. Ample supplies of ripe pear and melon come though on the palate accented by a herbaceous touch. Refreshing with lush acidity.

Bastianich 2004 Tocai Friulano
Tocai is firm but balanced in acidity with ripe tropical fruit and mineral tones. A classic match with Friuli's prosciutto and cured meats. This wine displays the typical floral and fruit tones of Tocai and is unusually fresh and bright.

Movia 2002 Pinot Grigio
Excellent balance is showcased in this Pinot, with a richness and depth of flavor supported by ripe pear, nectarine, tangerine and hints of spice. Refreshing acidity make for a delightfully crisp wine. Excellent varietal character, with a lasting finish reminiscent of juicy fruit.
