WINE NEWS / Frescobaldi's Bid to Take Control of Luce

In the wake of the Mondavi takeover by Constellation Brands, the Luce della Vite estate that was created as a collaboration between Mondavi and Frescobaldi may now become the exclusive dominion of the latter, an illustrious Tuscan winemaking family. Luce, founded in 1995 and located near the Montalcino zone, quickly gained a reputation for producing the excellent Super Tuscan of the same name as well as a more affordable, approachable bottling known as Lucente. The Frescobaldi family is very optimistic about the future of the winery and is eager to have full control of it. They expect to work out the details of the deal over the next few months.
