Dessert wine atlas
The Associazione Nazionale Città del Vino
(National Association of Wine Cities) has announced the pending publication
of an atlas of Italy's dessert wines, also known as passiti
or dried-grape wines. The first-of-its-kind volume will include technical
profiles for 26 DOC and DOCG passiti,
geographical, climatic, and historical information, and descriptions
for varietals used in the production of dessert wine. The book's introduction
is to be devoted to the history of sweet wines in Italy and the various
wine-making techniques employed to produce them.
