Lucio Mastroberardino elected VP, UIV
Milan, Italy—The Unione Italiana Vini (Federation
of Italian Winemakers) has elected Lucio Mastroberardino as Vice President
of its board of directors. Mastroberardino, the son of Walter Mastroberardino,
is a member of one of Italy's most illustrious winemaking families
(he can trace his viticultural roots back to the 16th century). Today,
his families' wineries to produce wines made from the indigenous varietals
of Campania like Falanghina and Fiano d'Avellino. The Unione Italiana
Vini was founded over a century ago to help producers eliminate fraud
along vintners and to lobby for lower taxation of wines.
