Terre
del Principe
Region: Campania
DOC(G):
Campania
IGT
About the Producer:
Lawyer Giuseppe
Mancini has already made a name for himself in the wine world as co-founder
of Vestini Campagnano, a Campanian
estate known for its top quality renditions of Pallagrello Bianco,
Pallagrello Nero, and Casavecchia. In fact, Mancini is credited with
saving these varieties from near extinction in the early nineties
after centuries of abandonment and thirty years of complete quietus.
Terre del Principe is his new outfit, and here once again he is flaunting
the virtues of these unusual varieties that are indigenous to the
province of Caserta. The estate is his joint effort with Manuela Piancastelli,
and the two are backed by a strong team led by enologist Luigi Moio.
Their eleven hectares of owned and rented vineyards delivered an impressive
first vintage in 2003, and the resultant bottlings promise that this
endeavor will be as successful as the last.
