About the Producer:
Enrico Fossi's
burgeoning estate lies on the edge of Florence, in a place called
Signa, which is technically called Chianti Colli Fiorentini. Facing
the Carmignano hills, this land enjoys one of Tuscany's best microclimates
for vine cultivars. Fossi, a dynamic renaissance man, broke tradition
in a zone which previously produced little quality wine. He does not
believe in the rules and regulations set by the governing wine body.
Fossi is making quality wines with international varieties that can
compete with France and California but retain their Italian identity.
We were the first to bring you the wines of Enrico Fossi, and we were
especially “wow”-ed by the outstanding quality of his
big, almost over-the-top, hedonistic reds. Now we're showcasing his
Sassoforte which we feel is the best expression of a 100% cabernet
ever to be produced on Italian soil. Stylistically, this wine is still
huge but more balanced and refined than any he has ever produced.
In addition, his other wines in their first exposure in Italy earned
no less than four of his wines 90+ points in Luigi Veronelli's prestigious
Wine Review. A true master of big, bold, powerful bombs who is sure
to be a star in no time.
