DOC(G):
Brunello
di Montalcino
Rosso di Montalcino
About the Producer:
Located in the
Southeastern area of Montalcino, the family-owned Mastrojanni winery
has been operating since 1976. It was at that time that the vision
of attorney Gabirele Mastrojanni was brought to life, as he literally
installed every part of the estate (vineyards, cellar, water) himself,
and had to rely on his ability to create a masterful Brunello to help
return his investment. Today it is Gabirele's son Antonio who is running
the estate, who still practices the same traditional philosophy and
respect of the land that his father began with nearly 30 years ago.
The inactive Mount Amiata lends great character to the 44 hectares
of Sangivese growing in this estate, as the soils are rich in gravel,
clay, and limestone. Mastrojanni is known primarily for its rich,
full-bodied Brunelli which are collected by connoisseurs worldwide,
c with a true following of wine-lovers. It should be noted that varying
amounts of these sought-after wines are produced every year, as the
quantity will depend on the quality of the vintage. The only wine
produced here that is not aged in 100% Slavonian barriques is the
'San Poi', which requires the influenc of French oak.
